Is Your Well Room Wet And Musty?
Basement Waterproofing
Well rooms are very small rooms found in the basement of older houses located in Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs. Many years ago they contain the well and pump that supplied water to the home, prior to city water availability. They are usually located under a front or back step of the home. They have three walls made of concrete block with a low ceiling, open on one side for access or some have been equipped with a door.
These rooms are a magnet for:
- Mustiness (that old house smell)
- Moisture
- Mold
We receive many calls each year saying the same thing, " That little room under the stairs has water coming in and I don't know why. It gets wet so often we worry about Black Mold growing and getting the kids and us sick. Can you help us?"
Basement Waterproofing Wet, Musty Well Rooms
I reassure them it will be ok, that we deal with all aspects of basement waterproofing, including wet, musty well rooms.
This problem is not always easily solved and is almost always fixed by something other than a sump pump and interior drain tile system. They just don't often install them in well-rooms. The best way to fix this problem is to approach it from outside the house, at the root of the problem.
